Two Cork city men charged in connection with the fatal stabbing in the Gurranabraher area of the city on Thursday morning were yesterday remanded to appear again at Cork District Court on Tuesday.

Mr Keith O'Donovan (27), of Spriggs Road, Gurranabraher, is charged with the manslaughter of Mr Noel McCarthy (29) at Spriggs Road. Mr James Hourigan (29), of Harbour View Road, Knocknaheeny Cork, is charged with assaulting Mr McCarthy.

Judge Con O'Leary yesterday remanded Mr O'Donovan in custody to appear again at Cork District Court on Tuesday. He remanded Mr Hourigan in continuing custody with consent to bail on his own bond of £500 and an independent surety of £3,000 to the same day.
