The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) closed two restaurants last month for breaches of regulations.

La Gondola on Bedford Road, in Dublin's Temple Bar, and Punjab Restaurant, Parnell Street, Ennis, Co Clare, were served with closure orders.

A Closure Order is served when it is deemed that there is, or is likely to be, a grave and immediate danger to public health at or in a food business. Closure and improvement Orders will remain on the FSAI website for three months.

FSAI chief Dr John O'Brien today stressed the importance of attention to food safety practices in the Christmas party season, when large quantities of food are produced due to increased demand.
