Police in the North are investigating the robbery of two security vans making deliveries to banks in Belfast today.

In North Belfast a security guard had a gun pointed at his head by a raider who escaped with a cash box on the Dargan Road at about 2.30 p.m.

A second Securicor van was raided on the Shankill Road in West Belfast at 12 noon. During this raid, the guard was punched and pushed and had the cash box taken. It is believed the box contained £20,000 sterling.

Police believe two men left the scene in a red car, possibly a Ford Escort.
