Two males in their late teens were "fatally injured when the car they were travelling in left the road and collided with a wall," a Garda spokesman said.

The single-car crash took place at about 7.30pm at Rosfaraghan, Ferbane, the Garda said.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene, the gardaí added.

The road is closed tonight as Garda forensic collision investigators examine the scene.

Separately the deaths of two men in two road incidents yesterday evening are being investigated.

Gardaí at Tramore, Co Waterford, are investigating a two-vehicle collision at Moonvoy, Tramore at about 5pm yesterday.

A male in his mid-70s was fatally injured when the car he was driving collided with a second car. The driver of the second car was seriously injured and taken to Waterford Regional Hospital.

A technical examination of the scene was carried out by Garda forensic collision investigators.

Meanwhile, a man aged 51 has died after being struck by a car in Co Galway last night.

Gardaí are investigating after the pedestrian was hit at Kylebrack East, Loughrea at about 9pm.

The man was seriously injured in the incident and was taken to Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Nobody else was injured. A technical examination of the scene was carried out by Garda forensic collision investigators.

Elsewhere, two off-duty female gardaí were injured in a car crash which saw another vehicle crash into a basement.

The officers, who had just finished a night shift in Limerick city, were in a Volkswagen Golf that was in a crash with another car.

The other vehicle, a red Renault, broke railings surrounding a Georgian terrace and fell  into the basement ending up on its nose.

The crash happened at about 7am on the corner of Mallow Street and Catherine Street in the city.

The gardaí were treated in the Mid-Western Regional Hospital where their injuries were said to be non-life threatening.

A man driving the Renault and a female passenger were also treated for injuries.
