Two male teenagers were taken to hospital in Dublin last night following what is believed to have been a knife atttack.

The two were taken to hospital after a disturbance at Montrose Grove, Beaumont, at 10.30pm. At one stage up to 80 youths had gathered at the house, according to sources.

A 17-year-old man was found at the scene by gardai with injuries to his upper body and taken to Beaumont Hospital by ambulance, where he underwent surgery. He suffered from a large laceration in his stomach.

A 19-year-old man was also taken to Beaumont Hospital, where he was treated for a punctured lung.

A third man was also arrested at the scene for stealing a car. He was not involved in the assaults.

"Three separate crime scenes were identified and have been preserved for technical examination," a Garda spokeswoman said.

Meanwhile, gardai are investigating an assault on a 26-year-old man which happened on Ballyfermot Road at 2am.

"The man received a large laceration to his head and was taken by ambulance to St James Hospital," a garda spokesman said. He was treated for his injuries, which are said not to be life threatening.
