Two Turkish military planes crashed today in the southeastern province of Malatya after a mid-air collision in heavy fog.
The two RF-4 reconnaissance planes were on a training flight.
Sources said the pilots might have ejected to safety. There were conflicting reports as to whether one or two pilots were aboard each plane.
Local villagers told Anatolia news agency they saw two pilots parachuting down. A local official said there was a thick fog in the region: "You cannot see 10 metres ahead".

The accident occurred less than 24 hours after a Turkish Airlines passenger plane crashed in thick fog while landing in the nearby city of Diyarbakir, killing 75 people.
