Two US marines were killed and six wounded today in a suicide car-bombing near their camp outside besieged Fallujah.
Brigadier General Mark Kimmitt said the attack occurred this morning. However, the attack did not appear to have slowed down moves to turn over security inside Fallujah to an Iraqi force led by a former general in Saddam Hussein's Republican guard.
The latest deaths bring the number of US service members killed since the Iraq war began in March 2003 to 738. A total of 128 US troops have been killed by hostile fire this month, the bloodiest for American forces since the war began.
