Two women were among a group of six people arrested over the weekend for questioning about last week’s murder of veteran criminal Eamon Kelly.
The six were arrested on Saturday morning and were taken to Garda stations in Coolock, Ballymun and Raheny on the north side of Dublin.
Their arrests follow the appearance in court last Friday of a man to face charges related to 65-year-old Kelly’s murder in Killester, north Dublin, last Tuesday.
That man has been remanded in custody and is being held in Portlaoise Prison.
Gardaí investigating the shooting dead of Kelly outside his house on Furry Park Road believe a group of people were involved in organising and carrying out the fatal gun attack.
Detectives are satisfied with progress in the case and are hopeful of bringing a number of people before the courts.
The arrests on Saturday morning arise from Garda efforts to charge those believed to have had a direct or significant role in the murder, and also to question those believed to have information about the murder.
