Two exhausted yachtsmen were rescued by lifeboat men today after battling gale-force conditions in the Irish Sea for 18 hours.
Bangor lifeboat launched to assist the men on board the 27ft yacht which has suffered engine failure.
A lifeboat crewman was put on board the yacht when it was located two miles off Bangor and the vessel was taken in tow and brought to safety in Bangor Marina.
The yachtsmen left Girvan in Scotland yesterday and tried to put in to Port Patrick but were prevented from doing so by winds gusting to gale force seven and decided to try to make Bangor.
