Tyrone’s appeal against the €2,000 fine and the eight-week suspension for defender Ryan McMenamin will be heard by the Central Appeals Committee (CAC) on Thursday.

McMenamin’s six-week ban imposed by the Central Competitions Control Committee (CCCC) was increased to eight by the Central Hearings Committee (CHC) after a personal hearing last week.

The player was charged with a category II offence after grabbing Kerry’s Paul Galvin in the groin area during an NFL match in Omagh on February 15th.

The minimum for a category II is four weeks, which was imposed on Donegal’s Paddy Campbell for the same offence, according to Tyrone officials.

The CCCC also imposed a €5,000 fine on the county board for what was described as ‘disruptive conduct by their players’ after the match.

The CHC cut that to €2,000 but the Tyrone board is still set to appeal after claiming the stewards at Healy Park prevented a more serious incident.
