Mickey Harte will remain as Tyrone manager for a further two years. The Tyrone county board announced last night that the Errigal Ciaran man will stay in his current position until the end of the 2012 season.
His current term had been due to expire at the end of 2010.
The county board unanimously agreed to the three-time All-Ireland winning manager’s request for an extension, which will mean he will serve as county manager for a decade.
Harte led the county to a first All-Ireland title in his first season in charge in 2003, and was in charge as Tyrone lifted Sam Maguire again in 2005 and 2008.
“The Tyrone county committee would like to confirm that Mickey Harte has been granted a further two year extension to his term as Tyrone senior football manager,” the board announced in the wake of last night’s meeting. “The board are happy to endorse his request to stay on to at least the end of the 2012 season.
