Donegal 1-11 Tyrone 0-13:Tyrone surrendered the Dr McKenna Cup to Donegal at Brewster Park in Enniskillen yesterday evening after a scrambled goal from David Walsh deep into injury time.
The loss was compounded by star forward Stephen O'Neill suffering a dislocated elbow shortly after scoring his fourth point in the second half.
After trading points in an entertaining tit-for-tat battle early on, with Neil Gallagher, Leo McLoone, Walsh and Adrian Hanlon all notching from play for Donegal. Tyrone went in at the break with a two-point lead, however, thanks to consecutive points from Tommy McGuigan and Kyle Coney.
Mickey Harte's side pushed further ahead through a third free from O'Neill but disaster struck for the Clan na Gael man moments later when he sustained an injury that is likely to keep him out for three to four months.
Denied their most potent attacker, Tyrone allowed Donegel back in, through points from Walsh, Adrian Hanlon and Colm McFadden.
Second half substitutes Mattie Donnelly and Niall Gormley spiced things up for Tyrone step and the latter arrowed over a great score to give Tyrone the lead and what looked like the win. But Donegal kept on and when a long ball to the heart of the Tyrone defence in the last minute caused consternation, Walsh reacted quickest to toe poke the ball home.
