Tyrone1-20 Mayo 1-15:The Tyrone minors secured the first ever double for an Ulster county this afternoon with a runaway victory in extra-time of their All-Ireland final replay against Mayo at Pearse Park in Longford.

As was the case last week a late point ensured the teams were inseparable after regulation time. This time, however, it came from Mayo as Aiden Walsh coolly pointed a free two minutes into injury time to level the scores at 14 points each.

It was a fair reflection of the hour's play, though Mayo goalkeeper Robert Hennelly produced a brilliant save in each half to prevent Tyrone hitting the net.

Walsh was key to Mayo throughout and of the 14 points scored in regulation he scored six frees.

Tyrone were first off the mark in extra-time and after three minutes almost opened up a four-point gap but for Hennelly, who again stood tall to deny Ciaran Girvan.

The lead was doubled shortly afterwards, however, thanks to a Paddy McNeice free that was expertly despatched from the right hand side.

Tyrone looked livelier all over the park and extended their lead thanks to Kyle Coney's fifth point.

When Alex Corduff found space at the other end it looked as if the scores would be levelled, but instead of shooting the forward decided to feed Cathal Freeman. The moment was lost as the latter was crowded out at the expense of a 45 that was pulled wide with the last kick of the half.

Matters went from bad to worse for Mayo after the restart when the usually brilliant Hennelly fumbled McNeice's high-ball and allowed Conor O'Neill to gather and scuff the ball over the line for a six-point advantage.

Walsh then pulled a free wide as Mayo's capitulation continued.

Aiden O'Shea pointed for Mayo but Matthew Donnelly responded before Peter Harte settled for a point after a penalty was awarded for a push in the Mayo box .

He almost rued the decision when out of nowhere at the other end James Cafferty conjured a goal by fisting O'Shea's ball into the net.

It was to prove little more than a consolation - and a scant one at that after a monumental effort - as the Tyrone youngsters completed a historic double for the county with an end-to-end point finished by Naill McKenna.
