Rock band U2 kicked off their Vertigo tour in San Diego, California, last night.
The long-awaited tour will feature songs spanning the band's entire career, from 1980 debut album Boythrough to recent hits from How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb.
Last night's show was their first live performance in four years. The sold-out North America leg of the tour will take in 13 cities before wrapping up in Boston on May 28th.
The band then heads for Europe for a string of summer gigs. The foursome return to Ireland on June 24th for two shows at Dublin's Croke Park stadium.
The concerts smashed box-office records selling 160,000 tickets in under an hour.
U2 will later return to the United States in September and will end the tour in Portland, Oregon, on December 19th.
