U2 are to play Dublin's Croke Park on June 24th as part of their world tour, it was announced today.
Tickets for the Croke Pak gig are to go on sale on February 4th at 8 a.m., priced at €59.50, €70 and €80. However, members of U2's official website will be able to beat the queues by reserving tickets in advance.
The band finally revealed details of their much awaited Vertigo 2005 world tour after the announcement was believed to be postponed amid a health scare for a member of guitarist The Edge's family.
U2's 11th album, How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb, has sold more than 8.5 million copies worldwide since it was released last November. A second U2 gig is expected to take place in Croke Park on June 25th to cope with the expected demand for tickets.
Manager Mr Paul McGuinness said: "Now that all the logistics are worked out, the band are really looking forward to getting on the road. I've heard the new songs in rehearsal, they sound really great and the new production is going to blow everyone away."
The tour will take in 13 North American cities, starting in San Diego on March 28th. The 24 European dates will take in some of the biggest venues, including the Stade de France in Paris, the San Siro in Milan, the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff and the Olympic Stadium in Berlin.
