More than a dozen people have contacted British police investigating a rape in which the victim was photographed by onlookers using mobile phones.
Fourteen men and one woman have come forward with information about the attack at a pub in Brighton on June 7th, Sussex police said. All are being treated as potential witnesses.
Police said yesterday that the woman (27) may have been raped by two men who led her to the men's toilets at the Toad in the Picture House pub in East Street during a busy Saturday night.
Two further men were then seen on CCTV to walk into the toilets just minutes later. It is thought the second pair may have used mobile phones to either photograph or take moving images of the rape.
Detectives say they believe the woman was drugged moments before the rape. She was found collapsed, unconscious and half naked on the toilet floor just eight minutes after walking into the toilets.
The woman was recovering but remained in a state of shock, the spokeswoman said. Police say she did not know her attackers and can remember nothing of the rape.
Yesterday police made an appeal for anyone in the toilets at the time of the offence to come forward. He said it was possible they may not have realised there was a serious sexual assault taking place.
Police learned that at least two men were using mobiles from a man who was in the toilets and who was traced soon after the attack. He gave police a description of the attackers. Police now hope they can gather more vital evidence from those who have come forward in the last 24 hours.
