Union confirms end to Belfast postal dispute

The Belfast postal strike that has crippled services in the city for more than a fortnight was today called off.

The Belfast postal strike that has crippled services in the city for more than a fortnight was today called off.

The Communication Workers Union (CWU) confirmed its members had voted to return to work after an agreement was reached with Royal Mail.

The unofficial strike began on January 31st amid allegations of management harassment and bullying at a Belfast depot.

The CWU welcomed the end of the dispute and confirmed that its members will return to work with immediate effect.

On the duration of the action, a union spokesperson said: "The CWU regrets the inconvenience suffered by the general public during the dispute and is grateful for the support of the local community during a very difficult time."
