Until now the World Food Programme had been providing food to cater for 145,600 displaced Colombians.
"Due to the deteriorating health conditions of the growing number of displaced people in the past year, WFP is obliged to double the number of people it helps," a spokeswoman for the UN food agency, Christiane Berthiaume, said.
The move will involve an additional 26 million dollars into food aid, most of it aimed at mothers and children.
