Dundee University in Scotland has awarded a posthumous degree to a former student, Ms Julia Hughes, who died in last year's Omagh bomb, aged 21.
The principal of Dundee University said he was sure Ms Hughes would have completed her degree and would have gone on to even greater things. He said lasting peace in Northern Ireland would be her most fitting memorial.
Ms Hughes's parents felt the occasion would be too emotional for them to attend, but it is hoped they will travel to Dundee later this year to present a student prize in their daughter's name.
