Up to two million people used the State's citizens information service last year, according to a report published today.
The Comhairle Annual Report for 2004shows that the statutory body received 676,846 queries at its 98 walk-in centres around the country and 73,000 queries by telephone, an increase of 75 per cent.
A new Ask a Questionservice was also introduced during the year, receiving more than 8,000 email queries.
Its online service www.oasis.gov.iereceived 1.8 million unique users, an increase of 80 per cent.
Comhairle provides information to the public on their rights and entitlements. During 2004, the agency worked with Citizens Advice in Northern Ireland to optimise cross-border co-operation in delivering advice and information services.
