Two separate investments will lead to the creation of nearly 90 new jobs in Galway.

In Portumna, Green Isle Foods Limited plans to invest €5.2 million, with support from Enterprise Ireland, which will create 70 new jobs over the next three years at its frozen pastry business.

The jobs are comprised of direct production, production management and support roles.

The company said the announcement comes on the back of the recent acquisition of the business and certain assets of the RHM Frozen Pastry business in the UK from Premier Foods Ltd by Green Isle Foods.

Meanwhile, Thermo King - a company that makes transport refrigeration equipment - announced they would add 19 new positions at its Galway site.

The new jobs will be involved with the research and design on the next generation 'environmentally friendly' products.
