At least 10 people were killed and scores wounded in shooting in the main northern Iraqi city of Mosul today. "There are perhaps 100 wounded and 10 to 12 dead," said medical officials at the city hospital.
The shooting happened near the local government offices in a central square of Mosul.
Three witnesses and casualties who spoke tohospital staff said US troops had fired on the crowd - which was becoming hostile towards the city's new governor,Mr Mashaan al-Juburi, as he was making a pro-US speech.
