The American Consulate in Belfast today welcomed a new US Consul General to Northern Ireland.
Susan Elliott is a career member of the US Foreign Service and has recently completed a Washington assignment in the office of the Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice where her responsibilities focused on Europe, and South and Central Asia.
She was responsible for organising all Ms Rice's travel to Europe and South Asia — including trips to Afghanistan, Russia and the UK.
She replaces Dean Pittman who has just left Belfast after his tour of duty.

Ms Elliott is married to another officer in the US Foreign Service and they have two adult sons.
