Washington - The US yesterday "deplored" the detention and torture of two Zimbabwe journalists and called on Harare to investigate the matter and ensure the freedom and safety of the press.
"The United States government deplores the January 12th through 19th detention in Zimbabwe of Sunday Standard editor Mark Chavunduka by Zimbabwean military and police and subsequent torture of Chavanduka and reporter Ray Choto," the State Department spokesman, Mr James Foley, said.
