WASHINGTON - A Saudi dissident who has agreed to cooperate with the US investigation into a truck bombing in Saudi Arabia was charged yesterday with conspiracy to commit murder and "international terrorism".

The indictment returned by a federal grand jury alleged that Mr Hani alSayegh "was associated with a terrorist organisation that actively promoted the use of violence" against US citizens and property abroad.

Mr Sayegh was arrested last March in Canada on charges that he was a "security risk to Canada". He was deported under heavy guard to the US on Tuesday night.
