Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah has said the United States is not doing enough to restrain Israeli Prime Minister Mr Ariel Sharon.

In August, he wrote to President Bush that US-Saudi relations were at a crossroads and that Riyadh would be forced to review its ties unless Washington took active steps to resolve the Arab-Israeli conflict.

He said Mr Sharon's policies were undermining Washington's war on terror.

A Saudi proposal - offering Israel normal ties with Arabs in return for full withdrawal from Arab land occupied in 1967 and the return of Palestinian refugees - lost its lustre among Arabs when Israel widened its military offensive aimed at quelling a Palestinian uprising.
