The United States has agreed to suspend the threat of military commission hearings against two British terror suspects, pending talks between the Attorney General Lord Goldsmith and US authorities.
Prime Minister Tony Blair's official spokesman said a joint US-British statement, due to be released later today by the White House, would confirm the decision following Mr Blair's talks on the subject with President George W. Bush on Thursday.
"The president listened to the concerns of the primeminister and we believe that this is the best way forward," the spokesman told reporters.
