Glasgow - Cases of the human form of mad cow disease in Britain increased by 20 per cent last year and people living in the north of the country are most at risk, a leading scientist said yesterday.
The rise is shown by analysis of both the onset and deaths from variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (vCJD) as well as a disproportionate increase in the north of England and Scotland.
