Juan Sebastian Veron will fly into Manchester on Wednesday for a medical and then complete his £23.5 million sterling move to the Premiership champions.
It is expected the 26-year-old Lazio midfielder will be unveiled at Old Trafford on Thursday.
Veron's arrival pushes Sir Alex Ferguson's summer spending to more than £42 million, having previously landed Dutch striker Ruud van Nistelrooy for £19 million.
Veron has emerged unscathed from the Italian passport investigation that threatened to his move to United and his career.
