Victim of Enniskillen bombing dies

A man who had been in a coma since the IRA bomb attack in Enniskillen in 1987 has died.

A man who had been in a coma since the IRA bomb attack in Enniskillen in 1987 has died.

Mr Ronnie Hill (68) was the 12th person to die as a result of the bombing. A former principal of Enniskillen High School, he fell into a coma two days after being injured in the explosion in which 63 people were injured.

He had been looked after by his wife, Noreen, in a residential home which she bought and ran in Holywood, Co Down.

Mr Hill's funeral will be in Kilkeel, Co Down, tomorrow.

A former Presbyterian moderator, Dr John Ross, who knows the Hill family well, said it had been a traumatic time for them.

"I'm very sad and yet happy for him, and in some ways his family, because they have been under enormous pressure for 13 years," he said.
