GARDAÍ INVESTIGATING the murder of Celine Cawley in Howth, Dublin, will this morning begin their fifth day of forensically examining the murder scene and the roads around her home.
Gardaí are hopeful the results will confirm or rule out their main line of investigation.
Cawley (46) was beaten on the head with a brick. Her husband, Eamon Lillis (50), has described how he left his 16-year-old daughter to school on Monday and then walked the family dogs before returning home at 10am to find a man wearing a balaclava attacking his wife.
He has told gardaí how he tackled the man, who then ran down the back garden and into a lane leading towards Carrickbrack Road.
Mr Lillis sustained minor injuries to his head. When the masked intruder escaped Mr Lillis rang the emergency services.
Gardai have been unable to establish any sightings of the intruder. The house on Windgate Road showed no signs of a break-in.
