OVER 50 people gathered for a silent vigil outside the British embassy in Dublin on Saturday to call for the immediate release of Ms Roisin McAliskey. The group was organised by the Irish National Congress, a broadly based nationalist organisation which calls for peace, justice and unity in Ireland through peaceful means. The vigil started at midday on Merrion Road outside the embassy gates and ended at 1.30 p.m.
Ms Bernadette McAliskey, mother of Roisin, was one of the founding members of the Irish National Congress. Its chairman, Mr Robert Ballagh, said "at the very least" immediate bail should be granted to Ms McAliskey.
