More than 100 vintage tractor owners from the UK arrived in Dublin yesterday seeking to set a new world record tomorrow by helping to bring several hundred old models to Cooley in Co Louth.
The unique "Tractor Sunday" event will feature old tractors from 22 countries, according to the organisers.
Organiser John O'Hanlon said yesterday: "We hope to regain and reclaim a world record for the greatest number of vintage tractors working simultaneously."
In 1995 they set a record of 322 vintage tractors that was broken in Australia in 1998 with 798 tractors. In 2002 Cooley regained the record with 1,832 vintage tractors but this was broken last year in England with 2,141 tractors.
