Police made four arrests when violence broke out at the mini-Twelfth parade in Glengormley last night.

Police said the trouble broke out when marchers and their supporters began throwing missiles as the parade passed by Church Crescent in the village.

Police said a number of people, including a police officer and civilian, were injured but that their injuries were not considered to be life-threatening.

The police spokesman added: "Newtownabbey police condemn the actions of a small number of people on both sides of this disorder who were intent on causing trouble."

Order was quickly restored with the help of community representatives from both sides. One juvenile was arrested at the scene and three others a short time later.
