Eight regional committees on violence against women will be set up this month, according to the Minister of State for Justice. Ms Mary Wallace said women accounted for 90 per cent of the victims of violence in the home. The committees would "provide a focus for all those, both in government and non-government sectors, to work together in a cohesive manner". They will operate in the eight health board areas and membership will include gardai, women's refuges and the Rape Crisis Centre.
