Racing: Virtual edged out Alexandros in a nail-biting finish to the Juddmonte Lockinge Stakes at Newbury under Jimmy Fortune this afternoon.
John Gosden's colt travelled nicely throughout the Group One contest but there were still many in with chances as the field approached the furlong marker.
Godolphin inmate Alexandros emerged as the winner's main challenger in the final strides but it was Virtual who passed the post narrowly in front.
Henry Cecil's Twice Over ran with plenty of credit to finish a close-up third after making the running but hot favourite Paco Boy had to make do with fourth spot.
He was not travelling with his usual zest in the rain-softened ground and once the split came, there did not appear to be the expected response.
The winner was overturning recent Sandown running with Paco Boy after finishing third in the Bet365 Mile.
It was a close call as the front two flashed past the line, and a delighted Fortune admitted: "I thought he'd got me - I felt sick going across the line.
"But this lad stuck his neck out, and must have just got him on the line. He needed the race the last day, and everything was in his favour today."
Gosden said: "It was a stunning finish, because from my angle it looked like we had been beaten a short head. Going past the line he was a full head in front but on the line Jimmy thought he had been done.
"It was a fabulous finish. Twice Over took the pace, Pressing took the pace - they wanted to test the stamina of Paco Boy, who is an exceptional horse, and they found him wanting in the last half-furlong.
"He deserves it, he's a proper horse. He didn't get on with Ascot last year, and I think if we're wise we'll freshen him up and go for the Eclipse."
