The Fine Gael Web site "is updated daily and includes a personal message from party leader John Bruton TD, every working day". So, a party press release tells us. Mr Bruton sends us a daily message, which is certainly more than the Government does. "The most up-to-date press release on the Government's Web site is more than two months old. The Government Web site, Mr Bruton says in the new language, is a "cyber joke" and an extraordinary display of "virtual unreality". He invites Internet users to view its dreadful state for themselves.

And what do Bruton's personal messages say? On Monday he wrote about his visit to Northern Ireland the previous week. On Tuesday he told of his public meeting at UCD the previous day and looked forward to the Dail resuming. By Thursday there was still no message for Wednesday so Quidnunc stopped reading.
