A bronze axe head dating from 2000 BC has been stolen from the famous Dan Winter's cottage at the Diamond near Loughgall in Armagh. The Orange Order was set up there. It was displayed on a shelf with a bottle containing lead shot.
Owner of the cottage museum Mrs Hilda Winter blames an Easter Monday visitor for the theft. There were over 30 callers at the historic site.
Yesterday Mrs Winter said she was very angry with whoever took the artefact but promised if they returned it there would no questions asked.
"Whoever took it was being very selfish. They had no thought for visitors coming after them who might be interested in seeing it."
