Customers using the Vodafone mobile phone network in Dublin, Kildare and Meath lost coverage today for around an hour and half.
A spokeswoman for Vodafone said once the fault was detected, technicians began working on it and rectified the problem within 40 minutes, restoring the service at around 2.30 p.m.
She said the fault at a base station in Dublin city centre has now been rectified and the cause is being investigated.
