Jakarta - The Indonesian parliament yesterday issued a second censure motion against President Abdurrahman Wahid, opening the way for a possible impeachment of the head of state.
However, threatened violence failed to materialise and the Jakarta stock exchange closed 1.9 per cent higher in relief as thousands of Mr Wahid's supporters left the streets before nightfall.
The decision to issue the second censure was taken after an open vote showed that 363 were in favour, 52 were against and 42 abstained.
