Beijing - Indonesia's embattled President Abdurrahman Wahid came under increasing pressure yesterday to resign after a parliamentary censure that could lead to his eventual impeachment, writes Miriam Donohoe, Asia Correspondent.
However, the President told Muslim supporters he would not resign and he vowed to fight on until his term ends in 2004. There have been calls for him to stand aside pending investigations into his alleged role in two multimillion dollar scandals. The Indonesian parliament has censured him for his involvement after a heated debate on Thursday in which the President and his supporters walked out.
