Bruce Springsteen’s shows come at the start of a season that will see many other veteran acts visiting Ireland.
Leonard Cohen, Neil Diamond, Eric Clapton, Neil Young, Lou Reed and Paul Simon are due here in the coming months, with Tom Waits yesterday becoming the latest addition to this list.
Waits is to play three shows at a marquee to be erected in Dublin’s Phoenix Park on July 30th, 31st and August 1st. Tickets for the all-seated shows, costing €131.25 and €116.25, go on sale next Tuesday morning.
Audiences can expect more regular visits from this calibre of acts in the future. Seismic changes in music industry economics, especially the collapse of the CD market, mean acts now earn the bulk of their revenue from live shows and such touring sidelines as merchandising and branding.
