Dubai - Saudi-based lawyers said yesterday that Mr Frank Gilford had officially waived his right to demand the death penalty for two British nurses accused of murdering his sister in Saudi Arabia.

A statement by the Riyadh-based International Law Firm representing the Gilford family, said the death waiver document had been presented to a High Islamic sharia court.

Deborah Parry (39), and Lucille McLauchlan (32), have been accused of murdering their Australian colleague Yvonne Gilford at the King Fahd medical complex in the Saudi city of Dharan. Gilford's lawyers have said that Parry has already been found guilty of murder, although this has not been confirmed.
