Wales has lodged an official protest with European soccer's governing body about a positive drug test by Russia's Yegor Titov and wants to be awarded a retroactive 3-0 win that could give them a place in Euro 2004.
"Following the disclosure last Friday that UEFA have banned Yegor Titov (Russia) for 12 months following testing positive for the banned substance Bromantan in the Euro 2004 play-off match Russia v Wales in Moscow back in November, the Football Association of Wales (FAW) has lodged an official protest with UEFA today.
"The FAW in citing various UEFA Disciplinary Regulation and UEFA Regulation Governing Doping Control articles has asked UEFA to award the match to Wales with a 3-0 result," said FAW.
"If UEFA uphold the FAW protest, Wales could take the place of Russia in Group A of the Euro 2004 finals in Portugal."
