Rugby:Deiniol Jones has withdrawn from the Welsh squad ahead of Saturday week's trip to Dublin after picking up a rib injury last weekend. Hooker Gareth Williams, who has struggled to overcome a knee problem, has also been ruled out of the Ireland game.
Jones, making his first Six Nations start, lasted just 10 minutes against France on Friday night and was replaced in the second row by Luke Charteris.
Wales coach Warren Gatland has yet to draft any replacements into his squad for the injured pair and will release 14 players, including scrumhalf Mike Philips, to their clubs for Magners League duty next weekend.
Philips was an unused replacement last week but is pushing for a place in the starting line-up against Ireland.
From an Irish perspective, despite the bruising win over England there was a relatively clean bill of health for Declan Kidney.
Jamie Heaslip sprained an ankle at Twickenham but is expected to be fit, as is captain Brian O’Driscoll who was stretchered off after taking a heavy knock to the head.
The squad will assemble at Carton House outside Maynooth on Wednesday for a two-day training camp before breaking up for the weekend.
