New Zealander Steve Hansen has been appointed Wales coach until the end of the 2003/2004 season.
Hansen took over on a caretaker basis from fellow Kiwi Graham Henry following the record Lloyds TSB Six Nations defeat by Ireland at Lansdowne Road in February.
Wales have won only once since, against Italy, but Hansen is recognised as having instilled the side with a renewed hunger for success.
Performances such as the one against Grand Slam contenders France, where Wales were edged out narrowly in the closing stages, gave a fresh sense of optimism to the ailing Welsh cause.
