Germany's World Cup preparations suffered a setback tonight when they were beaten 1-0 by Wales in a friendly at the Millennium Stadium, only their second defeat by the Welsh in 13 clashes since 1968.
A Robert Earnshaw goal in the first minute of the second half handed the Welsh their first victory over the Germans since 1991 when they also lost 1-0 in a European championship qualifier in Cardiff.
Wales have failed to qualify for the World Cup finals starting at the end of this month while three-times champions Germany play in first-round group E with Saudia Arabia, the Republic of Ireland and Cameroon.
