Paddy Wallace has been confirmed as Jonny Bell's replacement in Ireland's 30-man rugby World Cup squad after the Ulster centre was forced to withdraw earlier today.
Bell's misfortune, forced out due to a long-standing Achilles tendon injury, is fellow provincial player Wallace's opportunity.
"My heart goes out to Johnny [Bell]. He is naturally devastated at having to pull out of the World Cup at this late stage, but unfortunately his Achilles tendon broke down again today," confirmed coach Eddie O'Sullivan.
Wallace, 24, who is uncapped at international level, plays as a utility back for Ulster, often filling in for David Humphreys when away on international duty.
