IRISH PLAYWRIGHT Enda Walsh has won a second award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Having been announced as a recipient of a Scotsman Fringe First for his play The New Electric Ballroom, he has also won a Herald Angel Award.

The award is given in recognition of his contribution to the festival over the last 10 years since he first presented Disco Pigs in 1997 (Fringe First Winner, Critics Choice Award), Bedbound in 2001 (Fringe First Winner), The Walworth Farce last year (Fringe First Winner) and The New Electric Ballroom in the current festival.

Walsh, who is also directing the Druid production of his play in Edinburgh, said "2008 will most definitely be a stand-out year with The Walworth Farce receiving such acclaim in New York and now two awards in Edinburgh".
