World test wicket record holder Shane Warne grabbed six wickets but India established a handy 141-run first innings lead in the second test today.

The leg spinner took two wickets off successive overs to claim his first five-wicket haul against India, and help dismiss the hosts for 376 just after lunch on the third day.

Australia scored 235 in their first innings and the lead could be decisive on a spin-friendly Chepauk pitch as India push for a series-levelling victory.

Warne first bowled Anil Kumble for 20 in the third over after the break to claim his fifth wicket, then took a simple return catch next over to dismiss Harbhajan Singh for five.

Warne, who claimed the record for most wickets yesterday, finished with six for 125 and took his career total to 537.

The Indian innings ended when Mohammad Kaif, who was batting with a runner, was run out for 64 after he collapsed mid-pitch with cramp.

Kaif, who completed his maiden test half century in the morning, did not return immediately after lunch but came out with the runner after the ninth wicket fell.

The 23-year-old shared in a record 102-run seventh wicket stand with wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel (54) in the first session.

Opener Virender Sehwag topscored for the hosts with 155 on Friday.
